Hi all.   I thought it was time to say Hello to everyone and let you know how things are here at Mesa Regal.

Recreational Tennis is off to a great start.  Today the 3.5’s held 9 matches.  VDO, Tower Point and Apache Wells/Val Visa are sending players over, and we are having a strong turnout of MR players.  4.0, 3.0 and 2.5 play is going well also, but we hope to find more 2.0 and 2.5 players to fill available courts.

Mark Namath returned last week and has the STARS program off and running.  We had six courts going Saturday, and lots of fun tennis. Those of you here at Mesa Regal, the sign up sheets are up.  If we have enough players we can go to a second round.

Regretfully, we are cancelling the Christmas Dinner Dance.  The virus and park restrictions just were too much to overcome.  Thank you Cathy Berry for all the work you put into planning this event. Sue Yoggerst, thank you for your work as well.  We are hoping for either a Valentines Day or year-end party to take the place of the Christmas event.

Social tennis has started and play is scheduled twice a week. Please check the court schedule for dates and times.

Good news: The ladies’ Christmas Luncheon is on for December 5.  It will be a casual event with morning tennis followed by a Pizza lunch served in the Sky Box.  Sign up sheets are posted on the bulletin board.

I want to thank all of you who are stepping up to fill open positions and otherwise help us where needed.  Albano Lima has taken over as web site administrator and court scheduling manager.  Gerry Maurer is in charge of tennis balls and will coordinate court cleanup and maintenance.  I want to thank all the captains helping to coordinate the Rec Tennis. We are still looking for coordinators for some key areas.  We will be recruiting people in the coming weeks.

Helen Cook is working to set up a mixed doubles schedule. Please sign up at the Sky Box for your preferred times.  We will post the schedule shortly.

Other  News:  The EVSTL Executive committee meet December 10.  The full board of the EVSTL meets December 11.  My best guess is that 10Cap league play is out for the year.  If the parks open up to visitors, I would expect to see Rec Tennis in the format sent to you this summer.  If the parks remain closed, MR members will have to decide to continue the Cal-Am Rec Tennis or go to in-house tennis only. Your Exec committee meets next week and they will come up with a recommendation.

Overall, I think things are going well at this point.  We would really like to see many more members back, but at the moment, we cannot control that.  If you are still away, we miss you.

Everyone have a save and Happy Thanksgiving.

Ken Borle  MR Tennis Club.
